THE PRIVATE PATIENT:           Many patients prefer the confidentiality and privacy they will have by scheduling as a private patient. The warm atmosphere and personal time you can share with your support person will prove to be very beneficial to those patients having a difficult time at this very trying moment. Private patients will have their support person(s) with them from their arrival until they are seen for surgery. Shortly after waking up in your room, your support person can rejoin you to share your recovery period. SOME REASONS YOU MAY CHOOSE TO BE A PRIVATE PATIENT: Patients who are very upset and distraught over having to terminate their pregnancy; and patients who are very young and need the comfort and reassurance of their family, or friend. Many couples who are choosing abortion find this to be an especially difficult decision. Going through this together has helped many couples and families cope with this difficult decision and they have grown stronger from the experience. Although they are sadden by the need to terminate the pregnancy, having shared it with someone has helped their recovery process. Patients who have to terminate a very wanted pregnancy for fetal or maternal indications also may need the support and love of their loved ones. We can accommodate your special needs. You will be surprised by how much help, and support one can receive at this difficult time, from these private settings, and from our counseling and nursing staff. Patients with health concerns are also asked to consider Private Patient Appointments. Our nursing staff can give you the special attention your condition requires on a one-on-one basis. Whether this termination is elective or medically necessary, you will benefit from the extra care and attention of our Private Service. Your family member will also be able to monitor your stay, and be kept more informed of your condition during surgery and recovery. International Patients traveling here from another country: You will receive the special care and privacy you are accustomed to. Our staff will stay in contact with you during your Miami stay, as well as assist you in arranging your accommodations. Patients that are traveling, and those with a very limited amount of time on the day of their surgery also usually prefer to be seen by Private Patient Appointments. This will greatly expedite your stay at the clinic, and make it easier to meet travel plans. Whether you are scheduled on a flight, or are expected back home, work/etc. (as many patients who are cruise-line employees), for example, being a private patient will enable you to meet your obligations, as you will be seen on a priority basis. Please inform us of your schedule when booking your Private Appointment. For those whom confidentiality is very important; who do not wish to be seen by others, or who feel uncomfortable with sharing the recovery period with other patients, Private Patient Appointments are encouraged.
