Welcome to our clinic...

Here are some things to expect at our clinic today.

First, you will be asked to fill out some papers, which include information about you and your medical history and consent forms for the procedure. It is very important that you read and understand these papers.

After you have completed your chart, you will be greeted by our receptionist. She will collect your payment. She will ask you for a urine sample for a pregnancy test. You will then sit in our patient waiting room until you are called to the laboratory.

In the lab we will review your medical history. It is important that your history is as complete and accurate as possible so we can provide you with the best medical care. Your vital signs will be checked and your blood will be tested for anemia and blood type.

Next you will meet with our counselor. She will discuss the procedure; anesthesia and how to take care of yourself after the procedure. It is very important that if you have any questions or concerns you should ask them then. She will also discuss birth control with you.

Our counseling staff is very knowledgeable about birth control and should be able to find an appropriate and reliable method for you.
The counselor will also record the last time you ate or drank. You will then be escorted to a changing room where you will change into a gown.

A nurse will take you into the exam room and introduce you to our doctor. The doctor will do an ultrasound and tell you how many weeks pregnant you are. The Nurses will help you get into position for the procedure. Our Nurse Anesthetist will also introduce herself and ask you some questions about your medical history. She will start an IV and give you some medication to relax you, followed by medication that will put you to sleep (for General Anesthesia, which most our patients choose). You are only asleep for 6 to 8 minutes while the doctor performs the procedure.

Afterwards, you will be taken to the recovery room. Our nursing staff will monitor your vital signs, and give you something to eat and drink. You will also be given postoperative medications and any additional prescriptions needed. Your ride will be notified on what time they can come and pick you up. You can plan to be in the recovery room for about one hour.

Your visit will take about 4- 5 hours as a clinic patient, or 2-3 hours with a private appointment. We strive to take the best possible care of all of our patients. If at any time you have questions or concerns, please speak to any of our staff.
